Pickleball in Corning, NY

Corning has two useful ways to play: six covered courts at the Nasser Civic Center during the rink's warm-weather season and two indoor gym courts at the Corning Family YMCA. The city program is the better choice for low-cost open play, while the YMCA provides a year-round indoor option.

Where to Play Pickleball in Corning

Nasser Civic Center Rink Facility

300 Nasser Civic Center Plaza, Corning, NY 14830. The off-season ice rink holds six covered pickleball courts, so play continues in light rain without full indoor climate control. The published open-play rotation is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to noon and 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.; Wednesday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Courts operate first come, first served with a rotation when players are waiting.

Daily admission is $4 for adult city residents and $5 for nonresidents; youth and seniors pay $3 resident or $4 nonresident. Seasonal memberships are $25 resident or $30 nonresident for adults, and $20 resident or $25 nonresident for youth and seniors. The program serves ages 10 and older. Register and view blackout dates on the city pickleball page. Metered parking is available in Municipal Lot 12.

Corning Family YMCA

127 Centerway, Corning, NY 14830. The YMCA has two indoor wood courts with permanent lines and portable nets. Its current adult schedule includes Tuesday through Friday morning play from 6:45 to 10:00 a.m., Monday, Tuesday, and Friday afternoon play from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m., and Wednesday evening play from 6:00 to 8:45 p.m. Access is included with YMCA membership, and court reservations are available. The facility has restrooms, water, lighting, locker rooms, and showers.

Pickleball Lessons in Corning

Neither the city nor the Corning YMCA currently publishes a recurring beginner clinic or private-lesson roster. New players can start during the YMCA's adult pickleball blocks, where the permanent lines and supplied portable nets remove the main equipment barriers. Players seeking one-on-one instruction can also connect with an instructor through the Coaches section.

Leagues and Pickleball Events

Corning's largest organized program is the seasonal city open play at Nasser Civic Center. Six courts support morning and evening rotations, and annual membership includes emailed notice of special events and rink blackout dates at least two weeks ahead. The city has not published a named 2026 tournament in Corning, so competitive players generally build match play through the open sessions rather than a fixed local tournament calendar.

Tips for Visiting Players

Choose Nasser Civic Center for the broadest player pool and lowest drop-in price. Bring a paddle, outdoor balls, non-marking court shoes, and your city membership card if you purchased a season pass. The rink is covered but not climate controlled. For a fully indoor session, the YMCA is a short walk from Market Street and provides nets, restrooms, water, and locker-room facilities. Corning Parks and Recreation can be reached at 607-962-0340, and the Corning Family YMCA at 607-936-4638.
